Beyond Moore – A Town Centre Art Trail

Join us for a walk around Castleford and discover the visual interpretations of our history and our heritage which are all around us. Meeting at the Library we will meander around the town centre stopping at various points, including the Parish Church where we can also enjoy refreshments. The 90 minute walk will finish back at the Library where, in your own time, you can see tapestries, paintings and Henry Moore's reclining figure sculpture and other work by the artist. There is also more of Castleford's creativity on show in the Museum on the 2nd floor.

Castleford Civic Society are hosting a talk.
Herbert Smith led the Miners Federation of Great Britain at the time of the 1926 General Strike. Born in Great Preston Workhouse and buried in Castleford's Healdfield Road Cemetery, Herbert Smith negotiated with the Prime Minster Stanley Baldwin and his simple words 'Now't Doing' triggered the nine day General Strike.
