About our emergency planning and business continuity team
We have a duty under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 to plan, prepare and respond to any emergency.
Our emergency planning team helps us get ready for emergencies by:
- coordinating, monitoring and reviewing our business continuity plans and policies
This makes sure that we respond quickly when something happens.
During an emergency, we will work with emergency services to:
- help respond and support people and communities affected by the incident
Partnership working
We also work with other organisations to look at possible risks and make plans to keep people safe. Wakefield Council and West Yorkshire Resilience Forum created the West Yorkshire Community Risk Register (CRR).
This register lists the main risks for people and businesses in West Yorkshire. Each risk has its own assessment. The register helps many organisations plan for emergencies.
You can read guidance, tips and advice about the main risks identified by West Yorkshire Community Risk Register (CRR) here:
West Yorkshire Resilience Forum and its partners looked at risks and decided how to prevent or manage them. The CRR does not cover every possible risk, especially those that are very unlikely. Many risks are checked for their impact across the whole area.
During an emergency, we and other organisations will do our best to help everyone.
