Parking permits - apply and renew
Residents and visitor parking permits
Residents only parking is used in areas where parking is not linked to the area and can reduce the space available for the residents of that area.
They are not used to privatise individual spaces, to limit the number of vehicles any individual can have or to create conflict between neighbouring streets.
How do I apply for a resident or visitor parking permit?
To obtain a residents or visitors parking permit submit a new permit application form with all the relevant supporting documentation. There is no charge for a resident or visitor parking permit.
How do I renew or replace a parking permit?
To renew a residents or visitors parking permit re-submit the renewal application form with all the relevant supporting documentation. There is a £5 charge to replace a lost or damaged visitor permit.
Season tickets (formally long stay parking permits)
Season tickets are available to purchase for use on long stay parking areas throughout the district (not including Merchant Gate). These permits will be “virtual” from 1 April 2024 and are being provided through MiPermit (they will be available to purchase on the system from 19th March 2024). There will no longer be a paper permit issued to display in a vehicle as they will be electronic. The MiPermit system will alert enforcement staff through their enforcement equipment when a vehicle has a valid “virtual” parking permit in operation.
More information about how MiPermit “virtual” parking permits work can be found on their website.
