Apply for a Blue Badge

If you have a disability or a health condition, you may be able to apply for a Blue Badge to help you park closer to your destination.

Who can get a Blue Badge

You automatically qualify for a Blue Badge if:

  • you are severely sight impaired (blind)

  • you receive the higher rate of the mobility component for Disability Living Allowance (HRMCDLA)*
  • you receive the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)*
  • you receive a qualifying award under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme

*Where entitlement for a Blue Badge is linked to these awards, the badge will only be issued to the current expiry date of that allowance.

You may qualify for a badge if:

  • you have a disability which means you cannot walk or have great difficulty walking from your car to where you want to go
  • you are likely to come to harm while walking
  • you are likely to harm someone else when you are walking
  • you drive a vehicle and have a disability in both of your arms

Children may be able to get a Blue Badge if they are over 2 years old and have a great difficulty in walking.

You may be eligible for a badge if you have a disabled child under 3 years old who:
