During nominations - briefings and drop-in sessions
We offer support for anyone who wishes to stand as a candidate in the May 2026 elections. We host pre-nomination briefing sessions as well as ‘drop in’ sessions with the Electoral Services Manager.
The pre-nomination briefings focussed on helping candidates submit a valid nomination paper.
We are holding online drop-in sessions for candidates. They will allow you to ask the Electoral Services Manager questions.
The dates of the drop-in sessions are listed below. Candidates do not need to book; you can click on the date you wish to attend and the link for the briefing or session will automatically open.

Additional Support - May 2026 elections: Electoral Commission webinar for candidates and agents
The Electoral Commission are an independent body. They are responsible for overseeing elections in the UK. They produce excellent guidance for candidates. Read the Guidance for Candidates and Agents- Local Elections.
They have created code of conduct for candidates and agents in local elections. Please read this and make sure you are familiar with it. Read the Code of Conduct for Campaigners.
Both links will be useful to you as we move closer to the election. You might want to save them as favourites in your web browser or copy them to access later.
