Home to School Transport Policy

Getting your child to school on time and safely can be a challenge. Depending on where you live, your income and your child's age, your child may qualify for free home to school transport. If they have special educational needs (SEN) or a disability, they might also be eligible.

Here you can find out everything you need to know about school transport and if your child qualifies for help with their travel to school.

The main purpose of school transport is to help pupils get to school. Our policy (click here to view) outlines which pupils are eligible and how the service works.

School Transport to attend Denominational Schools in Wakefield

High school pupils who attend the nearest qualifying school, which is more than 2 miles but less than 15 miles from home, on the grounds of their parents’ religion and belief can apply for help with home to school travel costs if they receive Free School Meals or their parents are in receipt of the maximum level of Working Tax Credit.

Such applications must include written supporting evidence from a relevant clergy member so that parents can show adherence to the faith.

The bus pass application process has now moved online.
