Here you can see all the upcoming civic events that are taking place across the Wakefield District.

Veterans’ Café

The Veterans’ Café is a welcoming space for veterans to connect, unwind and find support.

It is hosted by Wakefield Council’s Armed Forces Champion and offers help with:

  • housing
  • Veterans’ ID Card
  • finances    
  • education, employment and skills
  • health and wellbeing
  • family information and support

The Café is held in Wakefield (WX), Union Street, Wakefield, WF1 3AD.

Wakefield Armed Forces Day

Wakefield Armed Forces Day is a free, family-friendly event celebrating and honouring the contributions and sacrifices of both serving and veteran members of the armed forces, as well as the broader services of military personnel.

Community Awareness Programme (CAP) Veteran's Surgery 

Wakefield Council’s Armed Forces Champion, will host a Veterans’ Surgery on the last Friday of every month 10am to 12pm at CAP. 

If you require advice on any of the following, please make an appointment in advance with Sue (contact details needed?): 

  • housing  
  • veterans’ ID Card  
  • finances  
  • education, employment and skills 
  • health and Wellbeing  
  • family information and support 

In order to verify your service, please ensure that you provide your full name, DOB and service number in advance of your appointment.

5 Towns Veterans Support Hub events

The Veterans Support Hub in Featherstone regularly holds events, where any ex-military individuals are more than welcome.

From Citizens Advice drop-ins to breakfast mornings, you'll always be welcome.
