Armed Forces Covenant Officer (AFCO)

Who is the AFCO?

Julie Dawes is the Armed Forces Covenant Officer for the Wakefield District.

What does the AFCO do?

The AFCO makes sure that Wakefield Council complies with the Armed Forces Covenant, across all areas of policy making.  

They raise awareness of the Armed Forces community and their needs, including:

• serving personnel (regular and reserve)
• their families
• veterans
• cadets

They also work with the Regional Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA) (RFCA) to connect with key local businesses, to promote.

• the Armed Forces Covenant
• the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme
• the employment of reservists
• the appointment of Cadet Forces Adult volunteers within the Wakefield district
