Snow wardens

Before you start your request

This form is to be used by Snow Warden's to request salt for gritting, or to enquire about becoming a Snow Warden.

Trees and a bench covered in heavy snowfall

You will need to tell us:

  • The details of your enquiry
  • If you require a collection

Snow wardens play a vital role in their local communities and we are very grateful for each and every one of them. They focus on clearing snow and ice from their local streets and pavements, which makes a big difference for their neighbours, particularly if they are vulnerable.

If you'd like to lend your support during wintry weather conditions by volunteering as a Snow Warden, please fill in our online form below.

We'll provide you with grit, gloves and high vis jacket.

You may already do this on your street? If so then let us help you to keep up the good work – if you become a Snow Warden we can keep you supplied with grit. Just fill in the form.

Once you have registered and been confirmed as a Snow Warden you can also collect grit and equipment from the depots at:

  • Tadman Street, Wakefield, WF1 5RG – Tuesday to Friday
    8:30am - 2:30pm
  • Clock Row, South Kirkby, WF9 3AR - Tuesday and Friday 12pm - 1pm
  • Carr Wood Road, Castleford, WF10 4PS – Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8am - 2pm

Thanks for your support
