Report a dead animal
We understand that finding a dead animal can be upsetting, especially if it is someone’s pet.
We are responsible for the removal of any dead animal found on the public highway and other public land. This includes wild animals (such as badgers and foxes) as well as domestic pets (such as cats and dogs).
Unfortunately, we cannot remove dead animals from private property or private land.
Reporting as dead animal
To help us respond as quickly as possible, please provide:
- the type of animal that needs to be removed wild, domestic, or farm
- the exact location of the dead animal
- additional details of the animal (if it is a missing domestic pet, is it chipped, identifying features)
To report a dead animal either on the public highway or any public open space, please call 0345 8 506 506
This is a free service.
If your pet has died
Please do not put dead animals in your household waste bin. If your pet has died at home or nearby, please contact your vet for advice on the options available to you.
Missing pets
If we collect a deceased domestic pet, we take it to our depot where we check for a microchip and store it respectfully while attempts are made to identify the owner.
If your pet is missing and you are concerned it may have been collected by us, please get in touch. We understand how difficult this situation can be and will handle your enquiry with care and sensitivity.
