Young traders return to Castleford as part of Wakefield’s Summer FunFest

Wakefield Council is bringing the Young Traders Market back to Castleford this August as part of the Summer FunFest programme.
Taking place on Saturday 16 August from 10am - 4pm at Castleford Indoor Market, the event promises a lively and welcoming atmosphere, packed with young entrepreneurs aged 16 to 30 selling a fantastic range of handmade goods, food, fashion, art and more. It’s an ideal summer outing for families, friends, and shoppers looking to support local talent.
"We’ve seen incredible creativity and enthusiasm from our young traders so far this year, and we’re thrilled to be offering another chance for them to showcase their businesses. The August event is all about celebrating our local talent, encouraging entrepreneurship, and creating a brilliant day out for the community. We hope to see plenty of people coming along to support them."

Many successful businesses start small, and events like this give young entrepreneurs a platform to gain real-world experience, network, and build confidence. Several past participants have gone on to grow their businesses significantly.
While this event is designed to spotlight young traders, the Council remains fully committed to supporting entrepreneurs of all ages. Our markets regularly host a wide mix of traders, and continue to deliver events and opportunities that are open to everyone. The Young Traders Market is one of many ways we help local businesses grow and town centres thrive - whether they’re just starting out or well established.
Young people aged 16 to 30 can now sign up for a free stall, giving them the chance to test out a business idea, gain confidence, and connect with local customers - all within a supportive and lively market environment.
Visitors are encouraged to save the date - Saturday 16 August - and come along to Castleford Indoor Market to enjoy the event, discover unique products and support the next generation of local business owners.
