Wakefield backing England to bring football home

The Leader of Wakefield Council has wished England the best of luck ahead of their first World Cup group match against Croatia.

WX will be screening England’s group matches on its big screen. Entry is free, with no tickets required – simply turn up and enjoy the atmosphere.

 “On behalf of everyone in Wakefield, I’m wishing England every success in their World Cup campaign and backing them to bring home the trophy.

“The World Cup has a unique ability to bring our community together and inspire people of all ages. You can feel that there’s a real sense of shared excitement and national pride building.

“England have a really strong record in recent international tournaments. That means that we should all be optimistic about the team going deep into the World Cup 2026.

“So let’s get behind the Three Lions in their quest to finally bring football home.”
