Residents reminded to respond to annual canvass

Tuesday, October 22, 2024

Residents in the Wakefield district are being reminded to respond to recent contact from the Council asking them to register to vote.

Every residential property in the district has now been contacted. Wakefield Council is required to ensure that records are up-to-date before the next elections in 2026.

“It’s important to make sure you are registered to vote. It only takes a few minutes to check and update the details for the whole household online. If you need any support to fill in your form, please contact our electoral services team who will be happy to help.

“Those that don’t respond to these requests will be receiving a further email or telephone call, which is costly to the Council. Also, if your details are not up-to-date on the electoral register, it may lead to problems obtaining credit or opening bank accounts. Credit reference companies rely on the register for background information. Registering to vote can help your credit score.”
