The Wakefield Adult Education Service’s latest course guide is out now. It’s full of opportunities to help people meet their goals this year.
“For anyone looking to do something different in 2025, Wakefield Adult Education is the ideal place to start.
“Whether you want to have some fun with a creative course or you’re looking to advance your career. There are lots of courses available to help you reach your goals.
“We’re here to support you every step of the way. Our ‘Welcome to Learning’ events provide personalised guidance so you can be confident you are enrolling on the best course to achieve your objectives.”
Cllr Michael Graham
Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth
The new course guide has been delivered to households across the district. It features courses including Digital Skills, Maths and English. And Employability courses to help residents land a new job. Courses cater to all skill levels, with classes for beginners up to Level 2.
Courses are open to adults aged 19 and over. And with Wakefield Adult Education, learners can benefit from smaller class sizes and supportive, mature learning environments.
Most courses are free and residents who are unemployed and seeking work, or earning less than £25,000 per year, are entitled to a fully funded course where fees are charged. Some people can also get help with travel costs, equipment and/or childcare.
Wakefield is a UNESCO Global Learning City, and champions lifelong learning and its vital role in strengthening communities, upskilling the local workforce and contributing to a strong local economy.
This programme is funded through the devolved Adult Education Budget for West Yorkshire.
The Mayor of West Yorkshire and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority are investing £65 million a year to improve skills across West Yorkshire – particularly among those who need it most.
