Pride in Place grants available for community groups in Castleford

Wednesday, July 29, 2026

Community and voluntary groups across Castleford are being encouraged to apply for funding from a new Castleford Pride in Place Community Grants Programme.

Grants ranging from £100 to £10,000 will be available for community projects.

“This funding is a fantastic opportunity for local groups to bring forward ideas that will make a real difference in their communities.

“We know that the best ideas come from local residents and organisations who understand the needs of their neighbourhoods. I would encourage all eligible groups, of all sizes to apply. It will help us build on the great community spirit Castleford is known for.”

Cllr Matthew Pinder

Cabinet Member for District Regeneration and Economic Growth

Cllr Matthew Pinder

Funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through the Pride in Place programme, the initiative will invest directly in community-led projects that help improve neighbourhoods, strengthen community pride and support the long-term vision for Castleford.

Cllr Pinder added: “Delivering big regeneration projects in Castleford remains a priority for us. But these grants will also make a real difference at a local and community level –
empowering local groups to deliver more of the things that unite the community and bring people together.”

Applications will be open to organisations within the Castleford Pride in Place boundary, including community associations, charities and voluntary groups.

Anyone applying needs to show how their project will provide genuine community benefits and support one or more Pride in Place themes, including regeneration and heritage, housing, work and skills, health and wellbeing, community cohesion, education, and transport and safety.

Projects that may be eligible for funding include improvements to community facilities, public space enhancements, community events, cultural and heritage initiatives, wellbeing activities, new equipment and skills development programmes.

The Castleford Pride in Place Board has allocated £250,000 to the community grants programme, which will be distributed over the next four years.

The grant scheme will be rolled out in phases, with phase one starting on 31 July 2026. Applications for the first phase of funding need to be received by 31 August 2026.
