Northern Gas to carry out work to replace a main gas pipe at Doncaster Road, Wakefield

Northern Gas is to carry out work to replace a main gas pipe at Doncaster Road, Wakefield.  

The works will take place between 24 July and 10 September 2024.  

The inbound lane of Doncaster Road between the junction of Neil Fox Way and  Agbrigg Road will be closed from 24 July until 7 August.  

Diversions will be signposted, so please allow extra time for your journeys.

Traffic will be diverted along: Neil Fox Way (A6194), Noval Way (A6194), Aberford Road/Stanley road (A642), Jacobs Wells Lane (A642), Marsh way(A61) and Kirkgate(A61).

Buses will be affected by the diversion. Please check https://one.network for details. This work has been scheduled during school holidays to help minimise disruption.   

After the road reopens, Northern Gas works will continue the work in the area, and there will be diversions in place. Once the road closure has been removed traffic will have access both ways again with just one lane not in use going outbound. 

These diversions will be removed on Thursday 22 August for the Hatchling Event at Pugneys Country Park and will be back in place Monday 26 August.
