Make memories this summer with Wakefield’s Families Together
Wednesday, July 23, 2025
Wakefield Families Together has launched a brand-new Things to Do This Summer challenge and worksheet. Designed to help families across the district enjoy fun, free, and low-cost adventures during the school holidays.
From pond-dipping and bug-hunting to den-building and storytelling, the challenge highlights the huge variety of activities available for families with children under 13, many right on their doorstep.
It brings together ideas from Wakefield’s beautiful parks, castles and cultural sites, alongside the fantastic free activities available at local Family and Youth Hubs. There's also a dedicated list of “10 things to do before you're 5,” inspired by the popular 50 Things to Do Before You’re Five app — supporting early development through playful, real-world experiences.
Families can download a colourful activity sheet, complete with tick boxes, a map of local Hubs, and a QR code linking to even more summer sessions and support. It’s a chance for children to explore, play, and learn, and for parents and carers to connect with their local community.
Whether it’s a splash at Thornes Park, a nature trail at Anglers Country Park, or a creative morning at your nearest Hub, there’s something for every family to enjoy without spending a fortune.
