Local art for sale at Pontefract Castle

Collections of paintings by local artists are now on sale at the Pontefract Castle gift shop. The first artist’s works available to buy are by locally-born artist Geoff Leathley.

In 2019, Geoff exhibited his paintings at Pontefract Museum as part of the ‘On our Doorstep’ exhibition. The paintings in the collection were painted between June 2017 and June 2018, although Geoff has been painting scenes from around Pontefract and Castleford for many years. Geoff now lives in Worcestershire, but has remained in contact with Pontefract Castle.
Pontefract Castle is now selling paintings that were displayed as part of this exhibition. It includes images of busy days in Pontefract, Castleford Mill and of Pontefract Castle itself.
Different artists’ works will be on sale in the gift shop throughout the year.
