Have your say on library, museum and castle opening times
Thursday, December 19, 2024
Wakefield Council is asking residents to have their say on proposed changes to the opening hours of its libraries, museums and castles.
The Council needs to review the opening hours as part of its plans to deliver a sustainable budget.
“We know that our libraries, museums and castles are used and enjoyed by so many people.
“Although we need to make some changes to help us deliver a balanced budget, it is important to us to ensure we can keep running these services now and into the future. We’ve suggested changes where we believe they will have the least impact.
“We really want to hear the views of people who use these sites regularly, so please get in touch.”
Cllr Hannah Appleyard
Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport
The proposals include reducing the opening hours at some libraries, museums and castles. This will mean either opening slightly later or closing slightly earlier to minimise the impact on visitors. And some seasonal proposals for Pontefract Castle.
The survey is open now until 14 March 2025 and can be completed at https://www.wakefield.gov.uk/about-the-council/consultation-and-engagement/wakefield-council-consultations/libraries-and-museums-opening-hours-consultation/
Paper copies are also available from any library or museum and completed surveys can be handed back in at any library or museum. Or post back to us at Wakefield Museums and Castles, Floor 3, Wakefield One, Burton Street, Wakefield, WF1 2DA.
