Fortnightly garden waste collections for 2025. Dates now available
Tuesday, February 11, 2025
Garden waste collections across the Wakefield district will resume once every fortnight in March.
“We’re pleased to confirm there are no changes to our garden waste collection service this year.
“We’re having to make some really difficult decisions to balance our budget. But we’ve listened to people’s feedback and have worked hard to make sure we can maintain a fortnightly service for 2025.”
Councillor Jack Hemingway
Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change

This means the collections remain the same as last year. Garden waste bins will continue to be collected, alongside household waste bins, from 11 March through to November. The date of people’s first collection varies depending on where they live.
The online bin calendars have been updated to include this year’s garden waste collection dates. People can access their bin calendar by entering their address into www.wakefield.gov.uk/BinCollections.
Anyone who doesn’t have online access can visit their local library or contact Customer Services to get a printed bin calendar.
“If you have a friend, neighbour or relative who isn’t online, we’d be grateful if you can help spread the word about the start of garden waste collections. Once the collections start, people just need to put their garden bin out on the same dates shown on the existing calendar for the household bin.
“But if anyone needs an updated calendar, they can contact our customer services team or pop to one of our libraries.”

Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change
