Featherstone residents to decide how £20million of funding is spent in their town
Tuesday, June 30, 2026
Following a series of public engagement sessions in Featherstone last month, residents are being reminded that they can still have their say online on how £20 million of government funding is spent.
“It’s really exciting to see investment of this scale coming to Featherstone - it opens the door to many new improvement opportunities for the town.
“What’s especially important is that decisions about how the money is spent will be influenced by the people who know and care about the area most - its residents.
“I recently attended one of the public engagement events that took place, and it was great to hear directly from people about what matters most to them. If you’re a resident of Featherstone, but couldn’t make it in person, I’d really encourage you to go online and share your thoughts and ideas. It only takes a minute or two, and every bit of feedback will help shape how this funding is used to improve the area.”
Cllr Matthew Pinder
Cabinet Member for District Regeneration and Regional Growth
£20 million of funding is being provided by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and forms part of a £60million investment into the district, with Castleford and Lupset also receiving £20million each.
