Call for information on sculpture theft
Friday, November 29, 2024
Public artwork installed outside Wakefield One in 2023 has been destroyed after thieves stole key pieces of the sculpture overnight.
‘The Auguries (Last Calls)’ by Andy Holden is part of the Wakefield Sculpture Trail.
“The damage caused to this wonderful sculpture is just senseless.
“It’s very frustrating and sad that someone has wilfully destroyed something like this.
“We have reported the incident to the Police and are sharing CCTV. I would urge anyone with information to please contact them.”
Cllr Hannah Appleyard
Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport
Anyone who has any information is encouraged to contact the Police online via Live Chat or calling 101, quoting crime reference 13240649472.
The sculpture trail was made possible thanks to £1m investment from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, administered by Arts Council England, for the specific purpose of creating outdoor contemporary sculptures in the city centre.
