We want everyone in Wakefield to have the chance to use digital tools and services in a way that works for them.
Our Digital Inclusion Team works with partners to help people build digital skills, feel more confident and get online.
Through Wakefield's Digital Future, we work together to help people who may find it difficult to get online or use digital services. We want everyone to be able to make the most of the things digital technology can offer.
People can face different challenges when trying to get online. This is an issue across the UK, and no single organisation can solve it alone.
That's why we encourage residents, community groups and local organisations to get involved. By working together, we can help everyone in Wakefield get online, stay connected and enjoy the benefits of digital technology.
What is digital inclusion?

Digital inclusion is about having the access, skills and support to use digital technology safely and confidently.
This could mean getting online, building digital skills, accessing digital services or staying safe online.
Being online can help people find information, apply for jobs, manage their health, stay connected and access opportunities.
At Wakefield Council, we work with community partners to help people overcome barriers to digital inclusion and make the most of digital technology.
Our approach to digital inclusion
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to digital inclusion.
People face different barriers to getting online. Some may not have a device or internet access. Others may need help to build skills, gain confidence or stay safe online.
Health conditions, accessibility needs and language barriers can also make it harder for some people to use digital technology.
That's why support should be flexible and tailored to individual needs.
Creating a more digitally inclusive Wakefield is a shared effort. Wakefield Council helps bring local activity together, but we cannot do it alone.
Residents, community groups and local organisations all have a role to play. You can help by:

helping someone find local support

Digital support directory - Wakefield Council
Wakefield Social Digital Inclusion Group (WSDIG)
The Wakefield Social Digital Inclusion Group (WSDIG) brings together community groups and organisations from across the Wakefield district.
Members work together to share knowledge, resources and opportunities. This helps them support people who may be at risk of digital exclusion.
WSDIG has more than 50 member organisations supporting digital inclusion across the district.
