Wakefield Together

The Wakefield Strategic Partnership is a group of different organisations. They work together to make Wakefield a great place to live and work.

The group includes people from:

Health services, schools and colleges, emergency services, businesses, charities, and the Council. Together, they share their knowledge, skills, and resources to reach shared goals.

A small group of senior leaders (Chief Officers) from these organisations meet often. They help lead the Partnership. Together, they are working on a new plan to make life better for people living and working in Wakefield.

The members of this leadership group include:

  • Tony Reeves – Chief Executive, Wakefield Council
  • Stuart Bainbridge – Police Commander, West Yorkshire Police
  • Paul Daly – Fire Commander, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue
  • Maddy Sutcliffe – Chief Executive, Nova Wakefield District
  • Sam Wright – Principal, Heart of Yorkshire College Group
  • Vicky Marks – Co-Principal, New College Pontefract
  • Martyn Shaw – Chief Executive, Vico Homes
  • Brent Kilmurray – Chief Executive, Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust
  • Mark Brooks – Chief Executive, South West Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust
  • Mel Brown – Health and Care Leader, Wakefield District
  • Martin Hathaway – Policy Chair, My Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce
  • Barney Mynott – Development Manager, Federation of Small Businesses

Other partners also take part by attending events and sharing ideas. They work together to help plan Wakefield’s future by using our districts area’s strengths.

Our District Plan 2025-2035 sets out a joint vision. By 2035, we want Wakefield to be a place where everyone has equal opportunities. Where everyone feels valued and can thrive. A district we’re all proud to call home.

This plan is the result of close collaboration. Over 270 organisations, community groups, and businesses have contributed their ideas and expertise.

It features the voices of local people. People who use our public services every day. It takes into account real lived experiences and needs.

This video introduces the Wakefield District Plan 25-35.

Hear from Wakefield Council’s Deputy Leader Jack Hemingway, Chief Executive Tony Reeves, and Simon Topham, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Wakefield and District, as they share how the plan was developed and what it means for the future of the district.
