Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Wakefield
A new way to understand health in Wakefield
Wakefield has been chosen for a special project to help people live healthier, happier lives.
By learning more about what affects people’s health in Wakefield, we can identify opportunities to make positive changes and help our community thrive.
This project is called the Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Wakefield. Our goal is to understand what really affects people’s health and wellbeing in Wakefield, and use that knowledge to help create a fairer, healthier district for everyone.
We do this by:
- building skills - training staff and residents to gather and understand evidence
- listening to local voices - combining research with real stories and lived experience
- driving smarter decisions - using insight to shape policies and services that reduce health inequalities
This isn’t just research, it’s about real people and real life in Wakefield.

Local people will lead the way
This project will only work if we work together.
We want to listen to people across Wakefield. We want to hear your stories, your ideas, and your views about what needs to change.
You don’t need to be an expert. If you live here, your voice matters.
