Volunteering

Pontefract Castle Pontefract Museum Wakefield Museum Castleford Museum Sandal Castle

One of our volunteers supporting a craft activity at Pontefract Museum Do you have a passion for history or culture? Are you a people person? Would you like to get more involved with your local area?

If the answer is yes, then why not become a volunteer? There are a range of exciting volunteering and placement opportunities across Wakefield Museums and Castles. As a volunteer you'll be helping to make our spaces fun and friendly places to explore.

There are so many different things to do within volunteering. Each role offers flexible hours, and we provide full training and support.

What's more, volunteering is a great way to:

  • Meet new people and make new friends
  • Develop new skills and learn about the district's history, stories and collections
  • Build your confidence
  • Be active
  • Gain work experience
