Historical maps

Historical maps can be selected from the Base Maps, a drop-down menu located at the top right of all our Spectrum Maps.

Historical maps available from the Base Map menu include:

  • Map 1851-55
  • Map 1892-95
  • Map 1907-19
  • Map 1938-52
  • Map 1953-57

Our map includes Historic England Listed Buildings information. This shows the location of all listed building within the district and includes a link back to their site for further information.

We have also mapped a few thousand images from the Twixt Aire and Calder website. The icons you see for them on the map are close to where the image was taken from.

These images have been grouped together by the ages ranges of the Base Maps. You can use map legend to turn them on/off to match this. This link has this information already on the map for you to view. Historical Images on Spectrum. Below are some examples of what a location used to look like circa 1910 and what it looks like now.
