Our Growing Talent programme is designed for you.  

What is the Growing Talent Programme?

It’s an opportunity to get a hands-on placement in Adults Social Care services in the district. You’ll learn new skills, gain a deeper understanding of the social sector and see first-hand the difference you can make to people’s lives.

Placement opportunities

We can find you a suitable work experience opportunity to suit your studies. It could be with one of the teams at Wakefield Council or with an external provider. Examples of where your placement could be include:

  • an elderly person’s home
  • supported living
  • day opportunities
  • occupational therapy
  • reablement services

What to expect

Depending on your placement, you could expect to:

  • work with teams supporting adults in Wakefield with learning disabilities, physical needs, or mental health challenges
  • gain hands-on experience with activities such as meal support, day-to-day care, and even fun community outings
  • shadow professionals and understand how adult social care makes a difference every day
