Notice of casual vacancy pursuant to section 85(1) of the Local government act 1972
- Pursuant to s85(1) of the local Government Act 1972, Cllr Paul Marchant, formerly a Member of the above-named Town Council, has ceased to be a Member of the Town Council and a vacancy now exists in the office of Councillor for the Town Council Area
- An election to fill this vacancy will be held if, within 14 working days of the date of this notice, a request by 10 Local Government electors for the Parish Council area is received by the Returning Officer of the Wakefield Metropolitan District
- Requests can be made by email to elections@wakefield.gov.uk or by letter to Electoral Services Office, Room 45, County Hall, Wakefield, WF1 2QW. All requests must include the full name and address of the elector(s) making the request
- Any request received by the Returning Officer is available for inspection upon request
- Upon receipt of a valid request from 10 registered Local Government electors within the 14 working day period, an election will be held on a date to be set by the Returning Officer
- In the event that insufficient requests are received within the 14 working day period, the vacancy will be filled by the Parish Council by co-option
