An election is to be held of THREE Councillors for each of the 21 Wards of the District.

- Forms of nomination paper are available from the Returning Officer, Electoral Services Office, Wakefield Town Hall, Wood Street, Wakefield, WF1 2HQ, who will at the request of any elector for the said electoral area(s), prepare for signature a nomination paper.
- Nomination papers must be delivered by hand to the Returning Officer, Electoral Services Office, Wakefield Town Hall, Wood Street, Wakefield, WF1 2HQ, on any normal working day from the date of this notice, but not later than 4pm on Thursday, 9 April 2026 during office hours. The Electoral Services Office is open from 8:30am to 5pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8:30am to 4:30pm (Friday).
- If an election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 07 May 2026.
- Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services Office, Wakefield Town Hall, Wood Street, Wakefield, WF1 2HQ, by 12 midnight on Monday, 20 April 2026. Applications can be made online: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
- New applications to vote by post and requests to cancel or change an existing postal or proxy vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services Office, Wakefield Town Hall, Wood Street, Wakefield, WF1 2HQ by 5pm on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, if they are to be effective for this election. Applications for postal votes can be made online: www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote.
- Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector's Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services Office, Wakefield Town Hall, Wood Street, Wakefield, WF1 2HQ, by 5pm on Tuesday, 28 April 2026. Applications can be made online: www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate.
- New applications to vote by proxy except on the grounds of a medical or work emergency must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services Office, Wakefield Town Hall, Wood Street, Wakefield, WF1 2HQ, by 5pm on Tuesday, 28 April 2026 if they are to be effective for this election.
- Applications to vote by proxy on the grounds of a medical or work emergency must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services Office, Wakefield Town Hall, Wood Street, Wakefield, WF1 2HQ, by 5pm on Thursday, 7 May 2026 if they are to be effective for this election.
