Weekend with Us

One weekend a month can make a big difference.

Help a local child by offering a safe and welcoming place to stay one weekend each month.

You do not need to foster full-time to change a child's life.

Weekend With Us is a new scheme from Wakefield Council. It gives children and young people the chance to spend one weekend a month with a caring adult or family.

Children can have fun, try new things and build trusting relationships with adults.

The scheme also gives foster carers a regular break while children spend time with people who care about them.

Is this right for you?

You might be:

  • looking for a way to help children but unable to commit to full-time fostering

  • working full-time but have availability at weekends

  • an empty nester with a spare room and time to share

  • a retired professional looking to give something back

  • someone with experience of caring for or supporting children and young people
