The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment and Schools Organisation Plan 2017
The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment and Schools Organisation Plan 2017 are nationally recognised documents produced annually to refresh the data held. It provides a consistent review of emerging early year and school place pressures in the Wakefield district and is seen as good practice.
Wakefield Council has a statutory duty to ensure there are enough childcare places available across the Wakefield district. The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment is an annual survey of the local childcare market which ensures there are enough childcare places in the Wakefield district. The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment reports on the childcare vacancies at present and also future forecasted childcare vacancies. The information provided in the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment helps identify gaps in the local childcare market and helps to plan future childcare needs. The key priority areas for change are outlined in Section 8 of the document.
