Wednesday, October 08, 2025

This October half-term (25 October – 2 November), Wakefield Exchange (WX) is set to transform into a thrilling Halloween playground, offering a week of fun activities for all ages.

From eerie experiences to creative workshops and lively parties, there’s something for everyone.

“Whether you're looking for family-friendly fun or a night out with a spooky twist, WX is the place to be this October half-term.”

Families can enjoy a host of free activities throughout the week. Step behind the curtain and into a spooky graveyard scene, complete with eerie photo opportunities that are perfect for capturing those Halloween memories.

Expect the launch of WX’s very own crazy golf course making its debut just in time for the spooky season. This unique course is inspired by iconic locations across the Wakefield district, including Castleford’s Queen’s Mill, The Hepworth Wakefield, Pontefract Racecourse, and more. Players can putt their way past famous local landmarks in a playful tribute to the area’s rich heritage.

On Halloween itself (31 October), WX will be buzzing with special events, kicking off with a Toddler Spooky Disco at 9:30am where little ones can dress up and dance the morning away. Later in the afternoon, older children aged 5–11 can join the Kid’s Spooky Disco, complete with Halloween tunes. And with free face-painting from 11:30am-4:30pm visitors can be transformed into their favourite spooky characters for free, just in time for trick-or-treating.

Adults haven’t been left out of the festivities. On Thursday 30 October guests can unwind at a Pumpkin Painting Workshop. For just £20, participants will receive all the materials needed to create a masterpiece and take home the most stylish pumpkin in the patch.

Then, on Halloween night (31 October), the venue will come alive with the Day of the Dead Party. Expect vibrant celebrations, live music from mariachi band Beato Burrito, and free sugar skull face painting to get into the spirit of the occasion.
