Wakefield to host Time Well Spent Festival

Tuesday, September 23, 2025

Wakefield is set to welcome a brand-new celebration of connection, creativity, and wellbeing with the launch of the Time Well Spent Festival this October.

Throughout the month, the festival will feature a rich programme of workshops, performances, art and crafts, heritage, wellbeing activities and much more.  All curated to encourage people aged 50+ to spend time in ways that nourish the mind, body, and spirit.

"Time Well Spent is about recognising the incredible contributions of older people in our district and creating spaces where they feel valued and connected. It’s a celebration of ageing well and living fully."

Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport

The festival is part of Age UK Wakefield District, Wakefield Council and many other local partners’ commitment to supporting older people to live well, stay active, and feel connected to their communities. It is delivered in partnership with local organisations, venues, and volunteers who share a passion for making Wakefield a place where everyone can thrive.

Events are taking place across the Wakefield district, with many accessible by public transport and designed to be inclusive for people with mobility or sensory needs, including:

  • Forever Funky - Thursday 16th October, 12-4pm at WX (Wakefield Exchange) - day disco celebrating the music of the past. People can get on their dancing shoes and enjoy the fun of moving to music.
  • One Day at a Time - Sunday 12th October at Nostell Priory - enjoy a free theatre performance at this fantastic venue.
  • Forever Fit - Tuesday 28th October, 11am-12 noon at Featherstone Sports Complex - enjoy a fun, active ageing class.
