The Mayor’s activities this August

The Mayor, Cllr Brian Moorhouse, has had another exciting month of engagements. Here’s a round-up of what he’s been up to:

Cllr Moorhouse and his consort Joan Moorhouse celebrated Yorkshire Day on 1 August by attending the ‘A Taste of Yorkshire – Craft and Food Fair’ in Ossett. Meanwhile. the Deputy Mayor Cllr Penny Ashton and her consort Cllr Steve Ashton also joined in the festivities of Yorkshire Day by attending the Civic Celebration, this year hosted by Goole.

On Tuesday 4 August, the Mayor and his consort, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor and her consort, were delighted to attend an official welcoming lunch as part of their Mayoral Year of Office. Dean Philip Hobday and new Associate Priest Sam were delighted to host the occasion, strengthening and reaffirming the important role the Cathedral has in Wakefield not only as a place of worship but as a centre for the wider life of our city and its civic community. 

On Sunday 9 August, the Mayor and his consort and the Deputy Mayor and her consort attended the Prince of Wales Family Fun Day at Pontefract Park, with the Mayor opening the event.  

Next week the Mayor and Deputy Mayor have accepted an invitation to attend the Inclusive Sports Festival at Thornes Park Stadium. Watch this space for more details in the next update.
