Thursday, March 14, 2024

The renowned arts and media club will be opening its first ever venue outside of London in Wakefield.

Groucho Bretton is set to open in 2026 in the grounds of the world-famous Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP).

It will also have 40 bedrooms, open to non-members, who will receive the benefits of membership throughout their stay.

“The longstanding reputation of Bretton Hall as an innovative arts institution, makes it the perfect place for Groucho to establish its unique offer outside London.

“I am very pleased that Bretton Hall will be entering a dynamic new phase of its history, enhancing our area’s reputation as a cultural centre.”

Cllr Denise Jeffery

Leader of Wakefield Council

“This is yet another prestigious brand that’s making Wakefield its home.

“What an incredible addition to our world renowned sculpture park. Giving local people another exceptional experience on their doorstep, as well as bringing visitors, jobs and investment.”

Cllr Michael Graham

Bretton Hall is a Grade II listed building in the park and housed an arts college before it closed in 2007.

Artfarm, owners of the Groucho Club, and Rushbond Group will be developing the site in partnership with Wakefield Council and the support of YSP.
