Share your love for Castleford this Valentine’s Day
Thursday, January 29, 2026
Residents and visitors are invited to Love Castleford at a special town centre event this Valentine’s Day.
The family-friendly Love Castleford event will take place on 14 February, 10am – 4pm, with a Valentine’s themed market, children’s fairground rides, and street entertainers.
“We’re always looking at new ways to support local businesses and to encourage people to visit our towns and city.
“Love Castleford is a great opportunity for everyone to come to Castleford and enjoy Valentine’s themed market stalls, small fairground rides for children, balloons and street entertainers. There’s also an opportunity to have a go at crazy golf inside the market.
“We’ve had lots of events in the market that have been a great success, and this is another way to support the town centre. Let’s all share Valentine’s love for Castleford.”
Cllr Jack Hemingway
Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth
Love Castleford is being funded through the UK Share Prosperity Fund.
It is part of the Council’s on-going commitment supporting high streets across the district and helping to increase footfall. If successful, similar events could be rolled out elsewhere in the district.
The Council are reminding everyone that two hours of free parking at off-road Council-owned car parks is still available – to make visiting the event even easier and more affordable. A valid ticket must be obtained from machines in car parks for free parking.
The fun continues at Castleford Market, where there will be a week of free entertainment and hands on activities this February half term.
The programme of events includes Wildworkshops. Their magnifying equipment means that families can get up close to creatures, bones, and bugs. Taking place Thursday 19 February, 10am to 3pm.
For science enthusiasts, Lab Rascals will also be providing an unforgettable experience on Saturday 21 February, 10am to 3pm. Children can step into a world of swirling fog, watch bubbles inflate themselves and even make their own slime to take home.
Throughout half term, families can get competitive as crazy golf continues at Castleford Market, from 10am – 3pm on Saturday 14 February, Monday 16 February and Tuesday 17 February. And from 10am -1pm on Wednesday 18 February.
