Save energy and be warmer at home

Tuesday, March 26, 2024

We are offering residents that qualify the chance to save energy and be warmer in their home.

Free solar power, insulation and other measures are now available through our Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) scheme.

Residents that qualify for the scheme could receive fully funded improvements. This may include having a solar PV panel system fitted, loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, an Air Source Heat pump and high energy efficiency electric storage heaters.

Applications are now open. They will close once the funding has been used.

To qualify, residents must meet all these conditions:

  • does not have a mains gas boiler to heat their home
  • be an owner occupier.
  • have a total gross household income of £36,000 or less or live in a selected area of the district (the Home Energy Team can check this)
  • have a home with an Energy Performance Certificate rating of D, E, F or G.

"This scheme is great to reduce energy bills and make savings. It also supports our district’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions so it’s great for the planet too.

"If people think they may meet the criteria, please get in touch with the team and find out more.”
