Road improvement work begins in Pontefract Park
Tuesday, August 19, 2025
Work to improve the road in Pontefract Park for drivers and pedestrians is now underway.
It will include the installation of new speed humps, putting in a new roundabout and resurfacing.
“I’m pleased to see work get underway in Pontefract Park, which I know many people enjoy visiting every day.
“The work will not only improve the road for drivers, but it will also help to improve safety for pedestrians. This will improve the overall experience of those visiting and using the park.
“There will be some disruption while this work is carried out. But we’ll be working hard to get everything done as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
Cllr George Ayre
Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change

The work is expected be completed by the end of September.
The Council’s award-winning parks and green spaces are the heart of the district’s fantastic communities.
Every day we’re working in our parks somewhere in the district. From cutting grass, planting bulbs and pruning trees, to emptying the bins and picking up litter.
We’re proud to have five nationally recognised Green Flag parks. A sign that your green spaces have the highest standards, are beautifully maintained, and offer excellent facilities.
