Residents reminded to respond to annual canvass

Residents in the Wakefield district are being reminded to respond to recent contact from the Council asking them to register to vote.
Every residential property in the district has now been contacted. Wakefield Council is required to ensure that records are up to date before the next elections in May 2027.
“It’s important to make sure you are registered to vote. It only takes a few minutes to check and update the details for your whole household, so please take the time to do it. If you need any support to fill in your form, please contact our electoral services team who will be happy to help.
“Those that don’t respond to these requests will receive a telephone call, a further letter, or email which is costly to the Council. Also, if your details are not up to date on the electoral register, it may lead to problems obtaining credit or opening bank accounts. Credit reference companies rely on the register for background information, so registering to vote can help your credit score."

The quickest and easiest way to respond is online at www.registersecurely.com/wakefield using the security codes printed on the letter.
Emails will come from either elections@elections.wakefield.gov.uk or elections@wakefield.gov.uk. Both addresses are genuine and not spam.
Registering online will take only a few minutes, and you can update the details for your household online.
