Proms at the Castle returns for another year

Proms at the Castle will take place on Saturday 20 June at Pontefract Castle. There will be a performance from the West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra before a fantastic firework finale over the medieval fortress.

There will be movie magic in the air as the orchestra perform scores from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘Titanic’ and ‘Meet Me in St. Louis’. From the world of ballet and opera, audiences can enjoy moving renditions of ‘Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia’ from the ballet ‘Spartacus’ and ‘Méditation’ from the opera ‘Thaïs’. With further performances of classical favourites like ‘Pomp and Circumstance March No 1’ and ‘Jerusalem’.
The gates will open at 5:30pm with the concert itself beginning at 7:30pm. People can bring their own picnic or enjoy food and drink from street food vendors and the Keep Café and Gift Shop, which will remain open during the concert. There will also be an onsite bar, The Thirsty Steed.
Standard tickets are £18.35 for adults, £14.80 for children and under 5’s go free. Carers tickets are available for free, but valid ID must be shown upon entry. Early access tickets are also available if people want to set up a bit earlier and get the best positions on the bailey.
