Wakefield Council has reopened Ossett's Church street play area following a £99,000 investment.
The revamped site features a wide range of new and improved play equipment including a new in ground trampoline, group swing and a bespoke shop roleplay game.
“It’s great to see the improvements at the Church Street play area now complete. The new equipment and layout mean there is something for all children to enjoy, while making the space more welcoming and accessible. We hope it will be loved by local families for many years to come.”
Cllr Julian Carter
Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services
The Council have made sure to refurbish some of the existing equipment such as the climbing net and junior multi-play unit. Whilst also adding exciting new features such as a double slide, trampoline and a toddler adventure unit.
Parents and grandparents are encouraged to join in the fun with a new multigenerational group swing. As well as new benches for parents and carers to sit whilst children play.
Other new additions include a wheelchair accessible roundabout, basket swing and a spinning seesaw. A bespoke shop roleplay game has been added to encourage imaginative play as well as a colourful butterfly game station.
The layout has been carefully planned to make it easy to move around and enjoy different types of play across the site.
The improvements are part of Wakefield Council’s ongoing work to provide high-quality play spaces that support children and families across the district.
