New public artwork to celebrate Castleford

Thursday, November 06, 2025

Wakefield Council is pleased to announce that international award-winning street artist CBLOXX is returning to Castleford to install a new mural on the side of the current Savers store on Sagar Street.

“Following the positive response we’ve had to the artwork CBLOXX installed on Welbeck Street, we have invited them back to create a brand-new piece for Sagar Street.”

Leader of Wakefield Council

“The mural will be an eye-catching piece of art that brightens up the building and reflects the spirit of the community.

“This will support other exciting regeneration projects happening in and around Henry Moore Square.”

Cllr Jack Hemingway

Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth

Cllr Jack Hemingway

The final design includes a nod to Henry Moore himself, the Castleford Tigers, the town’s Roman past and its glass making connections, along with other local references.

The project is being funded through the Government’s Towns Fund programme and is part of a series of regeneration projects for Castleford being delivered by the Council.

Work is expected to get underway on installing a new lighting canopy in Henry Moore Square in January. The Council will be releasing more details on this shortly.

The artist installing the new mural will be on site and starting work on 7 November.
