Summer has just got even better for families in Castleford, with the new Green Lane play area in Cutsyke now open.

The refreshed play area is packed with fun, with more than 32 exciting features for children to enjoy. New play equipment, seating and family-friendly facilities mean there's even more reason to spend time outdoors this summer.

"It's great that local families in Cutsyke now have this new play area to enjoy. There's something for everyone, with equipment for children of all abilities. It's a place to play, explore and spend time together. We're happy to be creating fun, welcoming spaces that bring communities together."

The improvements have been made with a £98,000 investment from the Council.

The play area is packed with exciting things to discover. Children can enjoy communication panels designed for interactive play, seesaws and a roundabout. Along with a range of swings, including a giant turtle shell swing. At the heart of the park is the impressive Helix play unit. With two slides, climbing walls and a fireman's pole, it's full of opportunities for adventure and fun.

New inclusive equipment has also been added, including a springie and a wheelchair-accessible roundabout, helping even more children play together and enjoy the space.

Families can also make the most of their visit with new benches, a picnic table and a bin, making it easier to relax and spend longer at the park.

The play area is the latest project in the Council's plans to continue to improve outdoor spaces across the district. Next up to be completed is Church Street park in Ossett.
