New Cabinet set to deliver lasting change for the district

Wednesday, May 20, 2026

New Wakefield Council Leader, Cllr Karl Johnson, has today announced his Cabinet to bring about lasting change that people can have faith in.

The new team is set to focus on the things that make a positive impact on everyday life in the district. This includes improving roads and public spaces. And restoring pride to local communities.

“Our new team will bring action, fresh thinking, and strong leadership that is accountable to local people.

“It’s not about politics or personalities. It’s about making sure we have the right people in place to deliver real change for our residents.

“Real, meaningful change will take time. But we now have the right team in place and determination to make it happen.

“All these appointments are based on the skills and experience our Councillors have. They will be working hard every day to make a real difference and to deliver for you.

“We will do things differently. And we will put local people first.”
