More than 80 events to celebrate later life across Wakefield district
Friday, October 02, 2026
A festival celebrating later life is returning to the Wakefield district this October. With more than 80 events and activities for people aged 60 and over.
Now in its second year, the Time Well Spent Festival offers opportunities to get active, meet new people, learn skills, and improve wellbeing through a programme of events.
"Time Well Spent celebrates the valuable contribution older people make to our communities. The festival is a chance to try something new, reconnect with others and discover the wide range of activities and support available across the district.
"Whether you attend one event or many, we hope everyone finds something that inspires them and helps them live well in later life."
Cllr Lukasz Borcz
Cabinet Member for Culture and Sport
Delivered by Wakefield Council, Age UK Wakefield District and community partners, the festival showcases what’s available to older people across the district.
Many events are free or low-cost, making it easy to get involved, stay active and make new connections.
Highlights include:
• Forever Funky, a free daytime disco for over-60s
• Silver Sunday, celebrating wellbeing, community, and connection
• Wakefield Mental Health Day
• Wakefield Model Railway Show
• Pontefract Castle Tours.
