Investing in your roads
Thursday, December 11, 2025
Keeping our district moving is one of our top priorities. That’s why we’re investing over £20m into our roads over the next two years.
Cllr Matthew Morley, Cabinet Member for Planning and Highways
We work around the clock to keep your roads and footpaths safe and well maintained. Here are just some of the things we did last month:
November 2025
Castleford
At Lisheen Avenue our team carried targeted surface restoration and other essential repairs to maintain the road. We’re committed to safety, and these repairs are crucial for maintaining safe and efficient roads.
Cutsyke
We’ve been at the Pasture Way roundabout conducting resurfacing works.
This work helps keep roads open and secure for everyone. Ensuring safe travel is our priority.
Eastmoor
At Arncliffe Road we carried out resurfacing work to the footway. These repairs are part of our programme of maintaining our roads and pavements.
Featherstone
Our teams have installed new measures to calm traffic at Station Lane. You may have seen the seen the new speed tables. They enhance road safety as they are designed to reduce vehicle speeds.
Pontefract
Pontefract is one of the busiest towns in the region and you may have seen resurfacing work taking place at Micklegate Square.
This work has been completed. It’s all about making sure that your roads are safe. These improvements are essential for reliable and safe travel.
South Hiendley
If you live in South Hiendley you may have seen our hard-working crews at Havercroft Rise, carrying out resurfacing works.
These major repairs help keep our roads moving and allow people to get around the district safely.
South Kirkby
Our teams were busy doing resurfacing work at Mill Lane this month.
Completing the scheme makes it easier for residents, visitors, and businesses to move around the area. It’s all part of our commitment to keeping the district running smoothly.
Ensuring safe travel is our priority, and our work helps keep roads open and secure for everyone.
South Ossett
We have been making repairs and improvements to pavements across the district.
At Park Gardens, we completed the replacement of the concrete footway with tarmac to make it safer for everyone to use.
Wakefield
You may have seen work being carried out to resurface Victoria Avenue.
This type of project helps to improve safety on our roads and makes it easier for residents, businesses, and visitors to move around our district.
Thank you
To carry out this work, we must sometimes close roads and put temporary diversions in place. We always try to keep disruption to a minimum and carry out work as quickly as we can, without compromising on quality.
Thank you for bearing with us while we continue to improve your roads.
The table above shows just some of the work we’ve been doing. A detailed programme of work carried out across the district is also available.
