ICON Week 2026: Supporting Parents, Protecting Babies.
Wednesday, September 16, 2026
ICON week is taking place 21st – 25th September. ICON stands for:
• I – Infant crying is normal and will stop
• C – Comfort methods can sometimes soothe your baby
• O – It’s OK to walk away for a few minutes if your baby is safe and the crying feels too much
• N – Never shake or hurt a baby
ICON helps parents and carers understand that infant crying is a normal part of a baby’s development and provides practical advice and reassurance during challenging times. This year’s campaign highlights the important role of fathers, partners and male carers, promoting the simple but vital message: Babies cry, you can cope.
Join our Public Health Children’s Team at The Ridings Shopping Centre on 22nd and 23rd September 2026, from 10am to 2pm, outside Marks and Spencer’s to learn more about ICON Week 2026: Supporting Parents, Protecting Babies.
Visitors can find out more about the ICON programme, access free resources, and discover how small moments of support can make a big difference in keeping babies safe and families supported.
