Have your say on a new political map for Wakefield Council

Wednesday, May 08, 2024

New boundaries are being proposed for council wards in Wakefield.

The Local Government Boundary Commission is the independent body that draws these boundaries. It is reviewing the Wakefield district to make sure councillors will represent about the same number of electors, and that ward arrangements will help the council work effectively.

The Commission is proposing that there should be 21 wards, with 3 councillors per ward, but a small number of electors may be voting in different wards from 2026 to the ones that they have previously voted in.

A 10-week consultation on the draft proposals is now open and you can have your say until 15 July 2024 at https://www.lgbce.org.uk/all-reviews/wakefield
