Free Easter Fun at Wakefield District Markets

Wakefield Council is hosting a two-week programme of free, family-friendly activities from 30 March to 11 April 2026 at local markets in the district.
During the Easter Egg-stravaganza, families can get involved with egg hunts, creative workshops, interactive games, and a mini-farm. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy free entertainment and create lasting memories. There are plenty of activities to choose from, so we encourage everyone to join in the fun and enjoy everything the markets have to offer.”

Throughout the event, visitors can take part in crazy golf, giant games, and egg hunts. Children will have the chance to meet the Easter Bunny at some of the sites.
Come join in the Easter fun on these days:
Ossett Market - Tuesday 31 March
Pontefract Market – Wednesday 1 April
Wakefield Market – Friday 3 April
South Elmsall – Saturday 4 April
Castleford Market – Saturday 4 April
The programme also features a Star Wars meet and greet hosted by Pheonix Squad, which includes light sabre workshops at Castleford Market on 11 April. Visitors can meet characters from the franchise and learn the ways of the Force.
Crazy Golf is set to return to Castleford Market; With putters of all sizes, it’s fun for all the family. Sessions will take place on:
Monday 30 March – 10am to 3pm
Tuesday 31 March – 10am to 3pm
Wednesday 1 April – 10am to 1pm
Thursday 2 April – 10am to 3pm
Friday 3 April – 10am to 3pm
All activities are completely free, and there’s no need to book - just turn up and join in the fun.
